Foster Dickson: NCTE Policy Advocate

Foster Dickson is a writer, editor and teacher in Montgomery, Alabama. He is the author of three books: Kindling Not Yet Split (Court Street Press, 2002), I Just Make People Up: Ramblings with Clark Walker (NewSouth Books, 2009), and The Life and Poetry of John Beecher (Edwin Mellen Press, 2009), and the general editor of Treasuring Alabama's Black Belt (AUM/AHF, 2009).

Since January 2010, Foster Dickson has been a Policy Advocate for the National Council of the Teachers of English (NCTE). A Policy Advocate's job is to maintain contact with his or her legislative representative(s), to share information with them about the NCTE's stance on upcoming bills that affect the teaching of English and Language Arts, and to encourage legislators to support positive reforms.
